Work to Ban Single-use of Plastic Grocery Bags

In Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties there is a growing effort to ban single-use plastic grocery bags. Below are links to information about this effort and also 2 different petitions. The goal is to gather as many signatures as possible to impress governing bodies that we really want single-use bags out of our lives.

The folks in Big Sur have shared 3 of their flyers:

First, what is happening on a statewide basis on banning the bag?             What is really the problem with our use of plastic?

Now it is time to take action as individuals.

You can sign a personal petition here.

SPG has joined a coalition of many organizations and businesses to ban single-use plastic grocery bags, the Central Coast Sanctuary Alliance. For a partial list and information see Central Coast Sanctuary Alliance.)

If you would like to help even more, here is a petition that you can use to get other folks to sign. Just click here, print out the 4 pages And go out and find signers. ( This petition is for any person to sign, not just registered voters.)
