Supports home owners who want to improve energy efficiency of their homes:

Ecology Action, Santa Cruz

The Ecology Action Climate Group will implement Ecology Action's contribution, in our tri-county area, to Energy Upgrade California - - - a State-wide program for energy and water efficiency, including renewable energy generation retrofits, for single- and multi-family residential and commercial buildings, financed in part through American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funding.

Energy Upgrade California is your one-stop-shop for home improvement projects that lower your energy use, conserve water and natural resources, and make your home healthier and more comfortable.

The CHF Residential Energy Retrofit Program makes it possible to finance energy upgrades to your home with grants and a 3% fixed interest rate 15-year loan. Replacing windows, sealing air spaces, insulating walls, floors, ceiling or roof, and upgrading heating and cooling equipment are just a few examples of energy efficiency work that can significantly reduce your household energy consumption and slash your energy bills.

The California Energy Commission is required by Public Resources Code Section 25942 to establish regulations for a statewide HERS Program to certify home energy rating services in California. The goal of the program is to provide reliable information to differentiate the energy efficiency levels among California homes and to guide investment in cost-effective home energy efficiency measures.

The Building Performance Institute, Inc. (BPI)

BPI is a national standards development and credentialing organization for residential energy efficiency retrofit work. BPI offers professional certification examinations on the assessment and upgrade of residential buildings - both single-family and multifamily.
