SPG NOTES from GODays 2008
SPG Table on Lighthouse
( notes from Denyse )
The location of our booth on Lighthouse was excellent. We got good exposure and had the opportunity to talk to many , many people about the sustainability movement afoot around here.
Our table was located on Lighthouse in front of Washington Mutual. It was shaded because Carolyne Swanson of Passion Purveyors lent us her booth. Tony brought the table, which I believe was from Asilomar.
We signed up 78 more "members" for SPG, people who will receive our regular announcements and who will become better informed about the issues, and made aware of the actions we are taking and the opportunity they have to contribute. Even if none of these new "members" become active, there is value to reach out to as many people as possible because our message is important.
Carbon Calculator
( notes from ken )
being inside was a loser ( GODays not an inside type of activity )
when outside, need fullest shade, facing away from sun, all day
probably 3 machines max
need power for machines
on display boards, have brief explanation of what it is ( with sample numbers )
have/make samples of what others do - types of households, size of living space
what happens if a house changes 35 lights to compact florescent ( my house )
5 lights on at night X 60 watts X 4 hours X 30 days = 36 kw; carbon per month = 226 pounds; for 1 year = 2712 pounds
5 lights on at night X 15 watts X 4 hours X 30 days = 9 kw; carbon per month = 57 pounds; for 1 year = 678 pounds
have sample gas and electric usages, for different living situations and size of 'house'
can the amount of a bill be used as input?
